Sanders

Renowned ballet dancer-turned-hotelier Alexander Kølpin approached us in 2017 with a simple brief — to create one of Europe’s leading boutique hotels, and something entirely new for Denmark.

The result was Sanders, a deeply personal project for Alexander, his name being (literally) above the door. It had to represent him, his life, his city, and his unique approach to hospitality. Situated just off the handsome Kongens Nytorv in central Copenhagen, Sanders offers an intimate retreat for those in the know. Curious travellers mingle with worldly locals over a morning coffee in Sanders Kitchen, or a late night cocktail at TATA, the hotel’s theatrical bar.

Sanders is a harmonious fusion of styles and references. Parisian flair meets English eccentricity in layers of blood red velvets and racing green leathers. Bamboo and rattan speak of cultures from further afield. A red thread of classic Danish mid-modern detailing grounds the hotel in its context and pays homage to the great capital of design which it calls home.

Sanders is a nostalgic, theatrical performance. It’s a blanket of candle-lit hygge. It reimagines the golden age of travel through the curated home of a well-travelled Dane.
